Send an Email Within Rise
Jul 10, 2017
Good morning,
Does anyone know if we can use the mailto: code to create a new email from a link within Rise?
Example, I'd like to have a link in a Contact section that will open a new email to that address instead of the user having to copy/paste.
I tried using the mailto: link with a button, and by adding a link to plain text, but Rise is automatically putting http:// in front of it.
Any suggestions or a workaround? Thanks.

Hi, JC! This is the button you'll want to click to add a hyperlink or a mailto: link.
Then, in the URL field, type
mailto:email address
with no spaces.Hi all,
When I follow the steps as outlined above, the system disregards the mailto: and email address and defaults to the website portion of the email. I've also tried to use the Email button, but get the square sad face as well. Any thoughts? Thanks!
We use MAILTO: in all of our courses and have never had any issues with it not working.
Which browser are you using to edit your Rise courses?
One other tip, Michelle. Make sure you're checking this function by using the Share URL. It won't work reliably when previewing the course.
I am using Google Chrome. I am exporting the course as a xAPI zip file and setting the html file as the main file in Moodle, version 3.71.

Yes, it does work using the ShareURL function. However, it doesn't work when I export a xAPI file. When I uploaded my course and tested as a user, the MAILTO: link was dead.
Hi Michelle,
Would you mind sending us the Share link to your course and the exported LMS file so we can test both on our side? If that works for you, you can send them privately right here. We'll delete those assets when we're done testing.
Hi,
it doesn't work for me .
Any ideas ?
Damien
Hi Damien,
I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Does it happen when you preview or view the course with the Share link?
We would love to take a look at your course and see why the MAILTO isn't working. Please send the share link to your course here.
Hello!
i have a similar issue:
i used the blocks and send email feature in rise 360. When i preview the course it works but when i upload the scorm to moodle it doesn’t work. The error message: the content is blocked...
Hello, Nour! Thanks for sharing what's going on in Moodle.
I would recommend testing the course in another LMS environment, like SCORM Cloud. This will help determine if the issue lies within your LMS or the actual Rise 360 course. If you are able to replicate in SCORM Cloud, be sure to send the LMS output file to us privately in a case. We'd be happy to take a look.
Thank you for your quick reply!
I tested it on Scorm cloud and it worked properly. So, maybe this feature
doesn’t work on Moodle.
Thank you for the update, Nour!
Hi Chris,
the issue is on the Rise preview and on our LMS (Talentsoft) once published.
I'll share the link with you. Thank you for your support.
Damien
I cleared the browser’s cache and it worked!
