Fading Audio Out

May 14, 2024

Hi everyone,

I know that Storyline doesn't have a feature to fade out audio and that people tend to do it externally and then bring the audio file back in. However, if you want the learner to freely explore a slide before continuing then this doesn't make sense as an option.

Storyline has a feature where you can use background audio over an entire project and that audio can be faded in and out using certain triggers. See the article here:

This method isn't suitable to my project either, so my question is...is it possible to use triggers to fade individual audio files, given the capability does exist? Has anyone experimented with this?

I haven't tried to fade the audio as you describe, but I have seen and used triggers to play different clips on the same slide; so it seems that you could make a faded clip and then reuse it several times...

I have had success with using both cue points on the timeline and selected objects, most often. So with cue points, when the timeline reaches the cue point, the audio stops/starts/fades. And with selected objects, the audio stops/starts/fades.

Good luck!
