I am very new to Ariculate and I am stuggling to find how we can get/view individuals survey/quiz results for the quizzes they complete through the presentations. Is this possible? I do not have Articulate Online.
Thank you in advance for any help that can be given.
Quizmaker is designed primarily as an elearning development tool to be used in conjunction with Articulate Online or your own Learning Management System (LMS). You can track and report quiz and survey results via stand-alone Quizmaker quizzes or those embedded in Articulate Presenter using a number of methods.
For the best results and most accurate reporting, we recommend Articulate Online:
Your own SCORM- or AICC-compliant Learning Management System (LMS) will also provide accurate tracking capabilities. Here are some open-source options for tracking quiz results:
Although email is not intended as a robust tracking mechanism, Quizmaker does provide an option for emailing results. Upon completion of a quiz, the user can choose to email the results to a designated email address. The results are sent in raw text format in the body of an email (raw text is the most flexible and universal data format). The recipient can then copy and paste the comma-separated output from the email into a text file and open it via Excel. After importing into Excel, you can select a "Table" format to organize the data into columns for better analysis.
Due to web browser, Flash Player, and email security issues, this method may not always work as expected. We suggest that you thoroughly test this method in your environment to see if it meets your needs. For more information, please review the following article:
Tracking results via a text file or a database is not supported. You may want to consult our Community Forums if you are looking to track quizzes outside of the supported methods:
Some of our customers are successfully sending Quizmaker results via PHP or by using a database, but these methods are not supported by Articulate. You can learn more about these methods here:
Brian, I have a related question. My graded quizzes are publishing their results to the LMS, but the surveys aren't. Any ideas about settings? I am using Learn.com (now Taleo) LMS.
Hi Anne. Survey data is sent to an LMS. Whether or not your LMS can provide reporting data on what was sent is entirely up to the LMS. I would talk with them to see what reporting options they offer.
Hi Anne! Did you find an answer with Learn.com/Taleo? I'm also one of their clients and have the same problem, I want to publish a survey using Articulate, but I don't know how I'm going to get a detailed report/data of the survey results. Thank you in advance!
i am half way there...still testing, but here's the direction i'm taking:
i want to offer them the opportunity to take the survey, but not make it mandatory...
using a graded quiz, i have a first slide that says 'do you want to take the survey'...if they click yes, they continue on to the survey questions. the answers are recorded in articulate. (i'm using SCORM 1.2) if they click no, they exit out, and nothing goes to the backend (which is fine with me).
my issue now is that it is reporting either outcome as 'incomplete' and i'm not sure i'll be able to let them move to the next thing (printing their certificate) with that status, but i'm testing that now. (also trying to avoid them getting that status if they exit out...)
as i figure things out, i'll let you know.
p.s. others replied to my post to use SCORM 2004, but our web folks can't support it so i didn't explore any further...
Hi Anne, I got some answers from one of Taleo's Content Experts. I haven't tested yet (I'll do it in the next two days) but here is the procedure, there is also another documentation I can send you via email (just email me at lvargas@isa-arbor.com) if you'd like for me to send you a sample of a Crystal Report you can import there. Hope it helps (and it works for both of us!):
The Articulate survey would be exported out of Articulate as a SCORM course and then imported into the LearnCenter. When the learner takes the SCORM course, the course and LearnCenter exchange tracking data to track progress, completion, score, etc.
The survey/quiz question and answer data is sent to the LearnCenter using a part of the SCORM specification called "cmi.interactions". Articulate uses cmi.interactions to handle both surveys and quizzes. This cmi.interactions data from the course includes details such as:
- Question id
- What the correct answer was
- How the learner answered the questions
- Whether the learner was correct or incorrect
The custom Crystal Reports were written to access this stored tracking data that the LearnCenter received from the course when the learner took it. After importing the Crystal Report files into the LearnCenter, you can then run the report to access the data. There are two versions of the report. One asks for the course title and then gives you all the interactions (survey data) for all the learners who took the course. The other asks for a course title and a student username, and then gives you all the interactions (survey data) for that individual user. The data results from both reports can be saved as PDF or Excel (as well as some other formats). Ultimately the output from the report will give you the question and answer data for SCORM courses that contain quizzes or surveys.
I have a similar question about reading the survey results, and do not use any of the LMSs listed above - we use Halogen. I use the quiz function and receive complete/incomplete and scores, but now need to use the survey function. I have put together a needs assessment survey and want to view individual responses by question (or else what's the point ) - is there any way to view the individual surveys once they are completed? I did a 4 question test (1 respondent) using the email function and there was so much information in the email that I could not imagine using it for a full survey with a large number of respondents.
Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but perhaps it will get some ideas generated (link to third-party site not supported by Articulate):
Hello community. I have a related question. I'm using Storyline and Articulate Online. I'd like to include a mandatory survey after the quiz at the end of each course. I'd also like to separate the results of when reviewing the reports.
Articulate Storyline lets you track a course either by the number of slides viewed or by a single quiz. Tracking both measurements for the same course isn't supported. Similarly, tracking multiple quizzes in the same course isn't supported. However, you may be able to track multiple measurements for a course using one of the unsupported methods in this article.
I have a somewhat similar question in regards to Articulate Storyline and Articulate Online.
I've added both surveys as well as quizzes within a course, but was only able to generate a report (graded) on the quizzes.
I've tried doing different things but still couldn't get the survey results (non-graded) to show, thus making it impossible to see what users have typed in for the survey questions.
I am using Quizmaker 13 and Presenter 13...In the course which will be published w/ presenter, there are several quizes which must be passed before proceeding or the student is returned to a slide in powerpoint....FRom reading thru the posts, it doesnt appear a way to Link/compile all quizes thereby demonstrating "pass" exists..... Am I correct the individual quiz results cant be compiled?

Leslie,
All four methods within the article assume the developer has both Presenter and Quizmaker. Since I have Storyline only, are there any other options for creating a course with both a quiz and a survey where both the quiz results and survey results can be tracked separately?
Leslie thanks....I do also have Storyline.....not as fluent in using it though. The way i have the online course in Presenter/studio is such that the participant must pass each quiz to move on....failing results in "return to slide"....the final quiz will be linked to an LMS which will simply show pass (or fail)...thatw a sthe best way I could figure to use Presenter/studio

Sue,
To get the complete/incomplete and scores reported to Halogen, what options are you selecting when publishing your courses from Articulate?
Thanks,
Michele
Hi Michele,
I'm using pass/incomplete which has been working well (I've had issues with the other settings)..

Hi Christopher and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Did you see the response above? These are two different measurements.
You may be able to track multiple measurements for a course using one of the unsupported methods in this article.
Hi Bob and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Not in Studio, there is no way to have a result of results. This is, however, a feature in Storyline if you happen to own that software as well.
Leslie,
All four methods within the article assume the developer has both Presenter and Quizmaker. Since I have Storyline only, are there any other options for creating a course with both a quiz and a survey where both the quiz results and survey results can be tracked separately?
Hi Thomas! Perhaps this thread addresses more of what you are looking for and it has a helpful Screenr as well.

That's a great way to accomplish your goal Bob, thanks for sharing
Thank you Leslie! This is what I was looking for!
Awesome, thanks for sharing Thomas
