Why is Storyline's font size is different to Microsoft PowerPoint?

May 15, 2024

I'm trying to create a style sheet for an upcoming project but I am having difficulty finding a suitable font size.

I am creating the style sheet in PowerPoint and I have discovered that size 24 font in it is different to size 24 font in Storyline. To make them look similar, I have had to make the PowerPoint font size be 17 and Storyline be 34.
Although it looks like you just have to double the size in Storyline, the text box sizes are different.

Both texts are in Arial and the slide resolution is set to 16:9 on both.

Since Storyline is just an advanced version of PowerPoint, why don't they share the same font size point measurements?

Although the slide resolution may be the same, the slide size is probably not. PowerPoint slides are set up in inches, whereas Storyline slides are set up by pixels. If you look at your PPT slide size, it's probably 13.33 inches by 7.5 inches, which is about 1280px by 720px. You'd have to set your Storyline slide size to 1280x720 to really compare the two. If you have a slide that is 16:9 aspect ratio but is set at the Storyline default of 960x540, you don't have a true slide to slide comparison.
