Just starting to play with Rise. I'd like to embed a .pdf workbook for learners to print and use as they work through their lessons. I cannot see how to upload a pdf. Is this possible
Building courses now in rise that must have attachments (printable pdf workbooks for on the job info and completion) we need to launch the course in march - if we build in RISE will we defo have attachments by end of March?
Could you let me know where I can find your new and upcoming features list for Rise please. I am interested to see what you are planning to implement in the next few months.
Good workaround Jayem and we'll keep folks posted about the release of those features as we have more information.
Dorrien,
The link that Wendy shared is what we have publicly available now on our roadmap as they are the things recently released or popular items up next on the docket. The other things we've been able to share here in ELH are on the roadmap, but their timelines are a bit more fluid so they're not yet on that What's New What's Next page.
Hello... being able to associate a PDF doc with a course built in Articulate Rise would be a real advantage for us...hopefully we'll see that being added 1Q2017 as reported above. Thank for the workaround using a link in the meantime,
We've been doing the same thing as Jayem and it's been working well. The viewer has the option to scroll through a couple of pages to help decide whether they want to click on and download the PDF to view...
I figured out the attachments under multimedia but I see this as a downloadable file, I was wondering if we can see the PDF as an image instead? Let me know if this is possible.
I have a need to wrap a PDF so that we can quickly deploy a policy update. I like the ease of the Embed block, but here's my problem - this is an internal policy and is only available on our company intranet. Rise doesn't seem to be compatible with non-public links. Is there any way around this so I can embed a file that is behind our intranet firewall?
How do you normally access these PDFs - must learners log into a site? If so, those credentials aren't something that you can pass via Rise. You could look at linking to the site or embedding it and allowing that the prompt the learners to log in.
Let us know if you arrive at a solution - it may help others in the community with a similar setup!
This may be answered above and I might not understand but how do I upload a pdf into Rise as part of the flip chart or hot spot pictures? Is there a trick to this?
Right now you can't upload a PDF to those block types, you need to use the attachment block. Would you be up for logging a feature request to tell us more about your specific needs?
In the meantime, if there’s anything else I can do to help, please let me know!
I also want to embed a pdf so it's visible, not just as a link, however the pdf file needs to be behind a login.
I've logged a feature request asking that .pdf files can be uploaded to the Multimedia Embed block so they end up as one of the Scorm package's assets.
Gotcha! The only way to do that right now would be to upload your PDF to a server and then link to it via the embed block. Thanks for taking the time to log a feature request! :)
I have a question. I have uploaded a pdf file using the multimedia attachment functionality. I renamed the file document on my computer before uploading it. The correct pdf name appears within Rise. However, when clicking on it to download, it reverts to the old pdf name.
Any help on what to do to fix this would be greatly appreciated!
The file should keep the new name when you download it from a Rise 360 course.
What web browser were you using when you noticed this problem? Can you share a screenshot that shows the name of the file in Rise 360 compared to the name of the downloaded file? I'll be standing by!

I was just looking for the same thing! Look forward to hearing if this is possible. Thanks.
Hey folks - this isn't currently possible but we're adding an "Attachments Block" so you can do this.
+1
Any News?
Good Morning, Erik.
The Attachments Block is currently targeted for Q1 of 2017. We're excited about it!

We are working around this by pasting the PDF link in an URL/EMBED lesson or a MULTIMEDIA > EMBED block.

Hi Dorrien
here is the 'What's New, What's Next' link

Hi Jayem,
Regarding this workaround: any luck with linking to a specific page:
http://berno.webfactional.com/vwgolf17/i3.pdf#page=4
Should work according to Adobe:
https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/link-html-pdf-page-acrobat.html
Thanks in advance for your opinion!
Im not sure if this helps but I just stored my PDF in dropbox and then created a shared link to the file with the button feature!
Hi all,
Check it out - Attachments block is live and Adam's got some information here.
Enjoy!
Hi All,

Thanks.

Hi Manisha,
It sounds like you're interested in embedding the PDF directly in the Rise course, is that right?
If so, you can do that using a Multimedia Embed block, as long as your PDF is hosted on a web server.
Let me know if you have more questions about that!

Hi Alyssa,
Thank you so much for your quick response! I tried to download the document on both chrome and internet explorer and it gave me the same result.
Attached are the screen shots in IE and Chrome of the name of the document on screen and the name when it's being downloaded.
Thank you so much for your help!
Best,
