I've not used variables very much, but am thinking through a use case. Could you use the elapsed time variables to help with course revisions? For example, if you, as a learning professional, design the course with a certain length of time that you think each person should take on each slide (or certain slides that you have in mind), could you set your threshold to trigger some kind of behind-the-scenes metric for you to view? For instance, if you have 10 slides, but slide 3 repeatedly causes learners to take 3 times as long as you would think that it should, could you get that in a report to help you figure out the fact that you may need to reword or set up the slide differently? Thanks!

Great question! You can create custom xAPI statements to report elapsed time variables to your LMS. So in the case you described, you'd want to report the Slide.ElapsedTime variable. That way, you could see how much time learners spend on a slide.
