So, let's say I have chosen a template. As you know, it comes with many many slides. Variations of different types of layouts. So, what is best practice of using the slides you want? Do you move them into the scene you want? Do you delete the ones you don't want? What do you do while you're working with all of the "leftover" slides? Does this make sense?

Hi Laurie!
You're right that each template theme has loads of slide options. In the case of the project I created in this article, I only inserted the slide layouts I wanted to use.
To select and insert only certain layouts from a slide template in Content Library 360, hold down Control on your keyboard and click the slides you want to include. That's my favorite way to do it because I only insert the slides I need, rather than having to delete any leftover or unwanted slides.
