In several courses, I have used the characters to tour the participant through a themed virtual environment, sort of like an educational tour guide. One example was a course that taught traveling consultants the corporate travel guidelines/rules. Using photographic clipart featuring various parts of an airport, I used the articulate character to lead the viewer through the airport to various stations (info desk, rental cars, etc). My intention was to put the viewer into a normal traveling situation and then present them with the info they needed.
