Ever wondered what happens when a tabs interaction and a board game have a baby? Well, you end up with board game tabs!

I've used a familiar, board game interface composed of simple drawing shapes for topic tabs.  This design is easy to customize and flexible, too. You could morph this into a course menu or a even a cool quiz.

You'll find the character, title, and background formatting all living on the Slide Master. This project uses the free Google fonts Baloo Chettan and Open Sans Light and a free character image from Freepik.

The hyper-linking feature is very useful. Is there a way to add a random variable or some other element of chance to the game? For example, I envision the player starts on Topic 1, spins a wheel or dice that returns a value of "3" which means the player goes to Topic 4 and can't review topics 2 and 3 until she completes a circuit of the board and lands on those topics later. Can this be done in PowerPoint?

Hi David. I'm not aware of any features in PowerPoint that would do what you've described but variables, triggers, and conditions are all features of Storyline. And since you can import PowerPoint files into Storyline this file could serve to kickstart your efforts.
  • Hi Trina - How did you go about putting this PPT into Articulate? Was it converted to a Storyline file and published from there? I have a client interested in customizing this and publishing as a resource on our internal intranet, so I'm trying to understand what options we have in terms of publishing this as an interactive graphic! Thanks in advance!

Hi Kaitlyn. I created this project in PowerPoint and simply published it to Review 360 from Studio 360. Studio 360 let's you take PowerPoint slides and turn them into an e-learning presentation. You could also import this PowerPoint into Storyline 360 and publish it to Review 360, for the web, or for your LMS.
