If it's delayed further, that's ok, but just be transparent about it and communicate that with your customers, which will earn you some extra grace and breathing space.
Burying your heads in the sand like Ostriches, and just assuming customers will wait and wait and wait is not a great experience. Check out your own template on "Providing Exceptional Customer Service" as to what that is supposed to look like!
