Week 2 - Group 1 Discussion
Hi all!
I love seeing others' examples and the work they've come up with. As it happens, a colleague of mine is in this cohort as well, so we've been bantering about the work we've each been doing.

- I converted several interactions, especially the drop-down interactions, to tab format. If I had more time, I'd also add images and AI audio where appropriate.
- On a custom block, I formatted text, created AI images and added AI audio.
- I used the AI Summary feature to create a draft, then made edits and additions with the AI text.
- Bonus 1: I used AI to update the quiz questions, answers and feedback.
- Bonus 2: In the summary, I added an AI Avatar, even though it's technically only available through labs.
- Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? Did anything about it surprise you? The quiz creation and editing were key for me. I'm terrible at writing questions and coming up with answers and feedback, so it bridges a gap and cuts out a lot of work for me.
- What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted? As others have said, the prompting with AI images was challenging, despite having used various tools to generate AI images. I also noticed that for multiple answer questions in the quiz, the questions it created only had one correct answer, so I was "forced" to AI edit those questions to actually be multiple response.
This is not my first run at creating a course using the AI assistant and it was interesting seeing how in this case, the course was VERY interaction heavy as compared to when I created my first two courses. It would be worth thinking about the nature of the sources and how the initial prompt combined with adding directions for how each source should be used might impact that.
One other note I appreciated - Sometimes, when generating my AI images, it would use the same "characters" in some of the results, useful in keeping a consistent "cast" throughout the course. It would be great if you could use AI Assistant in Rise similar to how you can in Storyline, pasting an image then asking the AI to create variations using the same people in the source image.
Last quirk - when I previewed the course with my name included, it did something really weird with my picture. Something to submit to support, but thought I'd toss it out there:
Great point about checking the quiz answer(s) match what type of question it's meant to be! Is there a specific part of the quiz creation that you feel gives you the biggest step up (or as you said, bridges the biggest gap) in terms of efficiency?
For me, it's all of it, to be honest. While I always have a good handle on the objectives and outcomes, I'm not great at writing standard quiz questions. Most of the courses I've developed, since they're heavily software simulation, have hands-on assessments rather than a traditional quiz. If I were building this course in Storyline, for example, I'd likely finish with a "day in the life" simulation, similar to the Scenario block in Rise. My focus is so much on skills and practice that I am little blind to building standard assessments.

Great course! I especially love your customer blocks. The image/quote ones have a lot of visual impact. Any chance you can share how you created the free type ones? We do this in storyline but I didn't know you could do it in Rise. Bare in mind though that if it involves coding I'm out haha.
I don't really have any suggestions - other than did you know there's a feature in the themes menu where you can change your block background colour throughout your course? Will save you loads of time if you didn't. It is still in Beta testing though I think.Thanks for the feedback! The image with the quote is a custom block where I changed the radius on the image to get it to a circle. I did struggle to repeat it, though, if I adjusted it. I couldn't get it to go back to the 180 radius I had originally.
Are you asking about the reflective questions? If so, that's also a custom design using a Code Block I developed using Lovable AI. Since making mine, I've seen a whole slew of variations that do even more than mine, which just saves the response locally.
I think I know about the block background setting? It's in the Theme area, right? I have a "standard" I use where I have the interactions blocks use the theme tint and text blocks using the "light" color. Is there a setting that does that?
Hi, thanks for the tip. Re block colouring, its all or nothing I think - it would be good if they were to include more options.
JasonDalrymple​ I loved those circle images too. I'll have to tinker with the radius option. I never noticed that option. It adds consistency and pizazz to your course. I noticed you used reflection blocks. Did you custom code those or are these a pull in from Mighty. That's a feature of their product I really like.
Hi JeanMarrapodi-c​! It was fun making that work - I don't know why it's not allowing me to resize to the same specs I have it now. Right now, the radius is at 185, and if I change the radius, it won't let me go back to that number. I have to tinker with it more.
As for the reflection blocks, those are custom code blocks that originally came from Lovable, but then I built an app so I can create and customize to my liking. That's awesome. JasonDalrymple​ does the LMS capture their answers so you can review them?
