Week 2 - Group 3 Discussion
Hello! I am excited to share my AI Assistant Project with everyone here:
https://share.articulate.com/k1tH-k0QIMBbiFLHj94Jg
Here are my responses to the questions about the project:
- I really focused image editing. I started with a team photo and from there I was able to separate the characters, adjust gestures and expressions. This really helped support the storytelling aspect.
- I used the AI assistant to help with the sorting exercise. It was so much faster than writing it all myself and I loved being able to tell it to help with formatting too (like making sure all statements were in the form of quotes).
- Changing the tone and making text shorter is amazing. For this prompt, keeping things professional was key but I also wanted it to be approachable so keeping it shorter and making the text "friendly" helped.
For the initial set up of the course, I opted for text only because I wanted to control the interactions. By putting my storytelling aspects into the lesson descriptions, the text already interjected the story in, which made the flow feel natural and I didn't have to rewrite it with the lens of what was happening with the story.
Really, the only challenge I had was that one time I tried to edit an image and it gave me completely different characters! It only happened once but I learned that clearing the chat once in awhile is helpful. We all need a reset sometimes 🙃
Bethany,
Wow! This is a very thoughtful and engaging course. The color palette and visual (GIF) on the title slide immediately captured my attention and drew me into the experience.
- I really appreciated the intentional use of color, object placement, and the background summaries of the team members. These design choices supported the storytelling of each situation and made the learning experience feel engaging, cohesive, and helped make the material feel more relatable and memorable.
- The interactive scenario blocks in each section were especially well executed. They encouraged me to actively participate rather than simply consume information, prompting me to critically think about how I would respond to each situation.
- I also liked the fact that you included a printable Reflection Guide and Team Health Check. These are valuable takeaways that learners can use beyond the course itself.
- My only suggestion would be to check the variety of font styles and sizes used throughout the course to maintain a polished and cohesive look.
This is a well-designed course with strong storytelling, meaningful interactions, and thoughtful learner engagement. You clearly put a great deal of care into both the content and the learner experience.
Kudos on a job well done!👏

ShimellH thank you so much for reviewing my course and giving detailed feedback. I saw the gif tip at Articuland Atlanta last year and I think I’ve used it in every course since then to draw the learner in from the get go. I really enjoyed this challenge and have been encouraging peers to participate. Thanks again!

ShimellH I was a little thrown off by your feedback about the fonts because I always make it a point to be consistent and I think the issue is the mobile view vs. desktop (which I should have checked...). When I look at the mobile view, any of the fonts in my custom blocks look out of wack. Have you seen that before or know a work around? I used font size 20 for all of my bodies of text but they look different in mobile view but the same on the desktop. Do you have any pointers for making sure fonts look consistent when using custom blocks?

Bethany,
No worries. It may be an issue with Rise Custom Blocks where the font looks fine in desktop view but shrinks or renders differently in mobile view because the blocks scale to fit the available space rather than reflowing the content in the same way.

And just to clarify my original feedback, I tend to pick up on certain visual details, hazard of the day job. 🙃 That doesn’t necessarily mean something is right or wrong; it’s simply what I notice from a learner’s perspective. In this case, it looked like three or more different fonts were used, but they could be due to the differences in size, formatting, and font treatments on certain blocks. Sometimes, those differences can make the visual experience a little confusing for the learner.
