  • This was an incredible experience. I learned techniques that will save me a significant amount of time. The ability to generate content from almost anything, have a subject matter expert review and approve it, and then seamlessly build it out for further review is truly impressive.

I also really appreciated being able to guide the AI on formatting, which eliminates the need to constantly adjust branding elements like color. The final exercise was especially enjoyable—I found myself exploring all the lessons and actively applying what I had learned.  Here is a link to my Rise project

One challenge we have experienced is that the AI isn't very good at acronyms in Accounting.  We have to spell things out phonetically so they are pronounced correctly.  But it does give us a good giggle!!  🤩

Can you guess our company color?

      What a fun company color!

Loved your imagery and simplified content and flow.

JennieHartman-e I also liked how you rounded the "Continue" divider. You taught me something new today!

In your first lesson, this section has 4 flip-to-reveal cards.

If you're like me and find Rise's configuration of 4 cards odd (and distracting for those with OCD tendencies), here's a helpful tip for you...

Create two blocks of 2 cards each (4 cards total). Reduce the block padding between the blocks. It will look like this below. (From the learner's POV they will not know these are 2 separate blocks.)

JennieHartman-e So glad you found this useful right out of the gate! I agree with you about the AI formatting – I had no idea that AI could adjust those things when I first started as well. What a great time saver trick to start using right away!

I also have a lot of acronyms in my field, and we have had some *seriously* challenging words to get AI to say correctly. I feel the frustration! I've gotten pretty good at phonemic tricks. The voices do seem to just be getting better and better as time goes on, so I'm sure improvements will keep coming.

Purple, one of my favorite colors. I really like your use of this color in your project. You came up with some really cool images too. It's really inspiring seeing the different variations of course development using the same content materials.👏

i used styles that the network would never let me use - just to have fun and try something different.  But you are spot on about the PURPLE!!  Thank you for the compliments!!

  • I have a question regarding the magic text import option. When creating a new course on Rise, let's say with AI, it directly takes you to describing your course and dropping in your files. You don't get the option for Magic text import so that the content stays as submitted.

I noticed while on a created course, I see the AI Assistant tab but still don't get the Magic Text import option.

Am I missing something? I've attached some images as well.

Hi StephanieDiaz-e the Magic Text Import feature is available within a lesson. Try opening a lesson, click the AI Assistant button at the top of the page, and you should see it there!

    Forgot to add:

Share 3 changes you made to the Rise AI Course Draft to improve learner engagement. Why did you make those changes to your project? Be specific!
I added a Mighty Reflection block (Plugin), Custom Beta blocks (Diagram), Change the theme color, added knowledge checks and images, made edits to the content.

Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? Did anything about it surprise you?
Using the AI Assistant to generate a quiz. No, I was not surprised because I saw an example of how it worked during the cohort. It is a game changer for me.

What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted? Getting the tone and wording right. I notice AI uses the word fostering almost compulsively not just Articulate but ChatGPT too. As a result, I have banned the word from any work I develop.😄

Here is my submission. This cohort really helped me better comprehend the AI tools in both Rise and Storyline and how they can support course development, particularly in creating clear content, generating assessments, and improving overall efficiency in the design process.

I was more so using AI to generate images and audio now that I can edit content and generate quizzes it will make my work flow so much easier because I will not have to solely rely on third party platforms for ideation.

ShimellH I really enjoyed your use of visuals in the course with the graphic displays from the plug-ins. I liked the visuals right out of the gate in the first section. And I totally agree, those block tools are a real game changer now that Rise and Storyline can be more of a one-stop-shop for editing!

I love the " I love your project. I like how the first thing in is an Audio. I know this will be great for auditory learners. I would say keep your project very minimal, with few interactions outside known checks, since interactions make the courses more engaging.

BrandyGreen-3fa Yes, thank you! 🙂 I went back and reviewed it and said ahh! This is way more interactions than needed, how did this escape me. I converted a few of the interactive blocks to the pragraph/header block.

This is why the feedback loop is a very important part of our process. Getting our leadership, colleagues, and SMEs input can make or break a project sometimes.

  • This was my attempt at using AI in course development.

    https://share.articulate.com/8RebGs3AAijhMmtCPYoOY

I improved engagement by chunking content into smaller sections, adding continue bars for pacing, and using AI to create a summary and quiz at the end. I also added custom images, a scenario, a matching activity, and converted a list into a timeline to make the content easier to follow and more interactive.

The most valuable feature was the AI Block tool. It helped me adjust tone, restructure content, and save time during development.

One challenge was the scenario character options. I was limited to preset characters and could not create or adjust them to fully match the context I wanted.

Thanks for this cohort. It was a great way to learn and practise.

Hey NatachaDube-e31 just wanted to pop in and say I love the custom AI generated images you created in your course! They really set the tone and hooked me into your content from the start. Nicely done!

        Hi NatachaDube-e31

I echo what everyone else has alreay said. I like the your image selection and like you I add audio to my image(s) as well. Good job!

Hi Natacha! I agree, those block tools can be a real time-saver when editing! I also really liked your use of the scenario in your sample. I hear your frustration with the preset characters. I have seen this example before as a workaround, check out this article and see if it's helpful for you. I DO know it's possible to embed a Storyline activity inside of rise as well, so a scenario could also be customized there and then embedded in!

  • I watched the video on customizing feedback for knowledge checks and the guy showed an option that says "By Choice". I've gone back into my course (I added the content from the required steps) to add this feature, but that button never appears. I've tried editing every knowledge check and they are all the same. Below is what I see. What am I missing?

Hey RobGibson-25619 great question! You'll want to click Change feedback type first. Then, you'll see a new button you can click that says By Choice.

Here's the video where David outlined the steps for that process, in case you want to review it!

Hi Rob. Let me just make sure I'm understanding correctly - you are looking for the "Replace block" button to appear, correct? Does that button appear after you've prompted the assistant to edit the content first?

  • I'm a little early, but thought that I would share something about the AI narration feature in Rise. Firstly, I think the quality is superb. The voice has natural speaking inflections.

However, it does tend to really weird out sometimes - for reasons I cannot explain. I mean, the narration goes WAY off script. It starts making stuff up. Editing does not seem to help. I have to delete and start over.

Hey RobGibson-25619 thanks for bringing this up! Would you mind sharing a little more about when you're running into this? Does it happen with any AI voice you choose? Does it tend to happen with any paragraph length, or just long paragraphs? I look forward to hearing more about this!

It's a bit random, Alyssa. No particular pattern. When it decides to weird out, it REALLY weirds out. Starts making up all sorts of gibberish and goes way off script. For the most part it's fine, but I recently edited some text and things got really strange. No matter how times I retyped the script, the audio decided to do whatever it wanted. The only fix was to delete and start over.
