Three changes I made:
- Adjusting the knowledge check questions and feedback. Some of the question choices in multiple choice formats were blatantly incorrect, so I had to refine the AI prompts to make them more realistic and challenging. I also had AI refine some of the feedback to make it corrective rather than merely say " go back and review..."
- Images generated lacked the diversity that I'd expect to see with a generic prompt of "a group of people." Had to specify that I was looking for diversity, which seems like it should be the default.
- Loved playing with the summary, auto convert and quiz generator functions.
One valuable feature I used was the auto write to generate transitions between topics and lessons to help the content flow more naturally. Sometimes these paragraphs needed editing, but they were a very solid start.
I think the biggest challenge that I alluded to above was having AI create knowledge check options that were realistic and not so obvious. AI falls into the same trap that I see in less experienced designers, when the correct choice is positive and drawn directly from the content and the incorrect responses are very negative and so obviously not correct. Experience in instructional design is still critical even with how well these new tools save us time!
Thank you for the comments, all. Here's where I have to confess that I probably should have saved my process and prompts, and I did not! Essentially, to create the story I used the course summaries that I generated and asked it to write a scenario to demonstrate the importance of team happiness, mental health and effective communication, naming the characters and asking it to create something about 30- 45 seconds in length when read aloud. I did massage the text that was generated a little (normally would have done more on that, to be honest) and then used that as a script to create the audio. I would have loved to have had this as a video, and in real life would probably create that video in Vyond or another tool, but I was really kicking the tires of Articulate here. :) I do think it would be cool if we could create narrated slideshows in Rise, and I would also like to see text-based captions over the image for this audio both for accessibility and learner preference options. I know the transcript is available to the right, but would like to see that function punched up a little.
