Three changes I made:

I honestly think I changed everything. I followed the prompts and made all of the changes advised. The changes I enjoyed the most were to convert blocks, create audio, generate the quiz, and create many images, including fronts of flip cards and an interaction! I also created a Custom image style that I loved!

The AI feature or capability that was most valuable to me was the Block Converter. I am always trying to figure out the best layout or flow, and this helped me try different things out so easily and so quickly!

The only challenges I faced were with some images that I wanted to be so specific (5 sticky notes on a whiteboard, each labeled with a different word) did not come out the way I had wanted them. I also was challenged with my ability to write clear descriptions of what I wanted. This stretched me in so many ways and I felt like by the end, I was getting pretty good at it!

1. Three changes I made to the Rise AI Course Draft to improve learner engagement — and why

• Added an interactive Team Introduction module I imported the Storyline project into Rise so learners could meet the team in a more dynamic, personalized way. This makes the course feel more human and engaging, especially at the start, where first impressions matter.
• Updated the AI‑generated images to create a more unique visual identity I noticed that many courses built from the same draft were using very similar AI images. To avoid visual repetition and make the course stand out, I replaced the images with alternatives that better matched the tone and personality of the content.
• Added a “Match the Four Pillars of Workplace Happiness” activity After the explanatory content, I included a fun matching interaction to reinforce the Four Pillars. This helps learners apply what they just read, boosts retention, and adds a playful moment to break up the text.

2. The most valuable AI feature in my workflow — and why

I found the Magic Text Import feature especially valuable. Because I work in a highly safety‑sensitive industry with strict rules and regulations, it’s essential that content stays accurate and compliant. Magic Text Import helps bring in existing material without altering its meaning, which saves time and reduces the risk of accidental changes.

3. Challenges I faced when trying to get AI to produce the results I wanted

One challenge I ran into was with conditional formatting, especially when trying to change the font color only when text was bold. No matter how I phrased the instructions, I couldn’t get the AI to apply the formatting consistently. I wasn’t sure whether it was a limitation of the tool or something I was doing incorrectly, but it required a lot of trial and error.

Share 3 changes you made to the Rise AI Course Draft to improve learner engagement. Why did you make those changes to your project? Be specific!

1. I enjoyed adding custom AI images to improve the content's aesthetics and create a theme that ties all the content together.
2. I converted a long block of text into flashcards to break up a long block of written information into smaller bite sized pieces of information to assist in the learner's retention.
3. I added a hook to the introductory paragraph.  I liked the AI feature which included a scenario since stories are more interesting for the learner to initially draw them in.

Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? Did anything about it surprise you?

Creating a Course level quiz and being able to generate AI 'fill in the blank' type questions was extremely helpful and a time saver.  I tend to have difficulty creating fill in the blank questions so this was a huge benefit.  The custom responses were also helpful in providing feedback to the learner if they answered incorrectly.

Outside of AI, I appreciated the bonus info on how to use the manage block feature which I was unaware of previously.

What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?

Historically, I have had slight issues generating a course from scratch using the 'Create with AI' button.  Sometimes the information is a bit overexplained and does not capture the key elements of the documents that I upload.  I am sure this could also be me being picky about the content and what makes most sense to me.  From this AI cohort, I have good ideas to help me navigate this more challenging part of creating a course from scratch (e.g., using the cogwheel to select the main source document).

Also, struggled a bit with the custom style in the AI image.  Even though using the same prompt under custom Style, the images were more cartoon like in the beginning and then more like a photo towards the end.  I think I would have needed to play around with the description more to get a more consistent image theme.

Hi All!!! This has been so much fun! I totally geeked out all the new tips I learned. I have only used Storyline before this cohort so I'm really glad that I was able to get in and play around with Rise. I learned soooo much and have soooo many great ideas for what I want to do. Now, how do I find the time to do them, is the next problem. Anyone got an AI fix for this??? 😂 Here is my link to final project:

Here you have my personal key takeaways:

1. Share 3 changes you made to the Rise AI Course Draft to improve learner engagement. Why did you make those changes to your project? Be specific!

I really enjoy using the quiz and summary generator because these sections are difficult to tackle, and generally, when we reach these development sections, we are burned out or tired. 

I use the AI audio generators to add more interaction and diversity to my course. 

Finally, about the script, I used several prompts to enhance attention, such as hook history at the 

beginning or the use ot titles to attract

attention.

1. Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? Did anything about it surprise you?

I personally value the AI course creation from scratch, using only source files and a brief description.  

It's common for me to be blocked at the beginning of the creation process, so this feature is the best catalyst for me.

1. What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?

The most important challenge is to get perfect prompts.  Especially when we are trying to create images.  It is a good tool, but 

it frequently adds nuances or bias, so we should be careful and sensitive

about our target audience and the company values we are taking care of.

Who likes Ted Lasso? My course has a section that's all Ted teaching these leadership and team concepts.

I added an image in the style of Roy Lichtenstein that is multiple rainbow stripes coming together to make a united rainbow circle. I changed tone to sound like Ted Lasso talking, and I added an audio file instead of an opening introductory paragraph.

I loved using the AI Image build but definitely loved making the copy sound folksy and approachable as Ted Lasso would if teaching it.

The main challenge I found, which I highlighted in yellow in the Ted Lasso section was getting AI to actually make him. I had to resort to using Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso as the prompt and still got a slightly off overall picture.

1. Three Changes: 

• Used “Make Shorter” to tighten long passages of content
• Used “Turn into Bullets” to improve readability
• Used “Instant Block Convert” to create more variety in the course

Overall, I made these changes because I wanted the course to feel more learner-friendly, easier to navigate, and less text-heavy. The AI tools helped me quickly improve both clarity and presentation.

2. Most Valuable Feature

The most valuable AI capability for me was customizing feedback, especially for knowledge checks where we use good, better, best answer choices instead of simple right/wrong responses. (I did not use this in the course above but played with it in my test templates)

This was especially helpful because I often need feedback that feels more supportive and nuanced, rather than using words like “correct” or “incorrect.” The AI helped reword feedback so it better matched the tone and instructional approach of the course. That made the learning experience feel more constructive and aligned with how we design assessments.

3. Challenges

I didn't really face challenges. However, when trying to change bold text to a different color using the AI it required several attempts to finally achieve the desired result. While the rest of the process was smooth, this specific formatting task took a bit more effort to get right.

I wish I had more time to stylize it more, but it has been a crazy week so I only had a few hours to play around with it.

  1. Scenarios: I incorporated several interactions that require the learner to apply the concepts in a real world scenario. I varied the delivery, with some being knowledge checks, some sorting, and some including audio or images. As a learner, I have a hard time reading a ton of content without seeing how the theory translates to real life. 
  2. AI Images: I used a mix of realistic cinematic photos and some monochromatic vectors. I liked the visual appeal to break up all of the text. 
  3. Custom Blocks: I had a lot of fun utilizing the custom blocks. They add a fun new way to display content to break up the monotony. I do have some questions about the accessibility of these though (see below).  
• Most valuable AI feature: in your workflow, and why? Did anything about it surprise you?
  1. Generate AI image prompt: WOW where has this been all my life?! Honestly, I never ended up an image the prompt gave me, but I was able to quickly drop it into the generator and edit back what I didn't like from the prompt. Saved a lot of time in the long run! 
  2. AI Convert: This was a real time saver! It made it so easy to the see the content in several variations without having to copy and paste text over and over again. 
  3. Manage Blocks: I know, I know... Not an AI tool, but WHAT?!? The amount of time I have wasted using those dumb little arrows, only to accidentally click the arrow in the wrong block so now I have to backtrack and move more blocks..... You know the pain I am talking about. 
  4. Snapshot: Again... I know it's not an AI tool, but this is a life saver! I am the worst at getting too excited and trigger happy with deleting or boldly editing a block without making a copy. The snapshot feature made it so easy to go back and copy the original text back into the current version when I got a little ahead of myself. 
• Main challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?
  1. AI Image Sizing Limitation: My company usually creates transitional blocks to use in place of dividers between two differently colored blocks to create a more visually interesting transition than a straight line. I attempted to create this with the AI generator, but you cannot specify the size of the image. I tested a lot of description and custom style prompts, but they all resulted in a pixelated image when cropped to a divider size. 
  2. AI Image Color Limitation: I tried to create a custom prompt similar to the blue vector prompt with a specific color palette, but I could not get it to match the hex codes I provided. I also tried to create a vector style image with a transparent background, but was unsuccessful. 
  3. Custom Blocks: Not AI specific, but something I learned in this process. I spent a lot of time working on the focus order and ensure accessibility, but will need to do further testing. All background shapes are included in the focus order, and I couldn't find a way to remove them. If using four colored boxes create one visual in the background (like a quadrant), I want to ensure the learner is not being subjected to clicking through each one. I grouped them, but the focus order tab allows you to reorganize the order within a group as well as add alt text to each object as well as the group. I just need to verify it is set up correctly.

3 changes I made to the Rise AI Course to improve learner engagement and why I made the changes:

-          Generate course summary feature & quiz

Why: This gives the learner a nice recap of the course. I can see myself using the to answer questions from leadership about “what’s covered” in a course. I can see us converting these to take-away PDF docs for learners. I can also use this during development to show SME what’s covered and what may need to be added. Sharing the quiz can also be helpful for SMEs.

 

-          Edit Text with AI combined with Custom Process Blocks (Simple Process and Simple Process Vertical)

Why: I used the Simple Process Vertical to show the list or steps in a section. I realize this is not the “proper” use to the block however it gradient color with shorter AI Text made the list much more visually appealing and grab people attention when I scrolled through the course to with friends and co-workers. One person who was passively paying attention said, “Stop what’s that?” Which is want I want learners to do when engaging with content.

 

-          Storyline Animation then added the Storyline block into Rise

Why: I do a lot of work in Storyline and ability to add quick animation will make the content more interesting and can be leveraged to help manage the cognitive load of learners but gradually displaying information or speeding up the display of content to make some information more exciting. I see endless opportunities to leverage this feature. I also prefer minimalist leading design or has my manager and team members say “clean” design. The animation can add some sizzle to my minimalist clean design style.

 

Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? The two most valuable immediate impacts to my workflow are the ability to check grammar and spelling plus the ability to increase/decrease the amount to text quickly.

 

Did anything about it surprise you? The amount of AI features that have been added and the easy of use. The prompting is easy and the ability to save images for future use. The combination of the custom blocks, Storyline Blocks with AI in both Rise and Storyline increased my productivity and my imagination is running wild with the things I can create to make dull topics more engaging. The output to engaging PDFs as takeaways is exciting and expands our content beyond the LMS.

 

What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?

Two challenges I experienced:

1 – The Convert to List would not work when the content was in an Accordion.  I think Convert to List should be disabled or not appear on the list if it is not functional when trying to convert content from an Accordion.

2- After I was going through adding AI audio to blocks, at one point the audio would generate a 0-minute blank tracks. It did this several times on two different blocks. I took a break and came back, and it worked. Was this because there are tokens or limits on AI generation for a day or time period?

• I added a custom block where the AI-generated audio was created from a paragraph, and the AI-generated image was based on a paragraph using an AI image prompt.
• I used the instant converter to transform a numbered list into a flashcard block for the learning objectives (LOs).
• I added a fourth lesson that included an introductory paragraph and three knowledge-check questions. All made with AI.

2. Rewrite, change tone and grammar check is definitely a win for me.

3. Sometimes image generation with AI takes a bad root and it is hard to get the good result for our original idea.
