Text-To-Speech voice inflection tricks?

Jan 19, 2022

I am looking for a document which lists Text-To-Speech voice inflection tricks using punctuation, symbols, etc. I know you can use *, -- , ; , bold, etc. but I wanted to see if there was a complete list of tricks somewhere.

I want to create a "How To" document for my staff so everyone is using the same process.

anyone know of a link where I can find something like this? I'm still Googling . . .

Hello Gerald! I think it's great that you are trying to create this document for your staff! I don't know that I had much more luck than you, but did you see this article on Using Punctuation and Mark-Up Language to Increase Text-to-Speech Quality

Also, not specifically what you are looking for maybe, but here's some tips for using text-to-speech in Storyline. I also found this resource: 3 Examples that Showcase Text-to-Speech in E-Learning. Please let me know if any of these resources were of help to you!

Thanks! And Yes . . . those are the ones I pulled information from.

I found that certain tricks don't work in Storyline 360:

* Bolding part of a word doesn't change the voice inflections
* Underlining doesn't work either.

Using an extra return, the em dash with spaces, seems to work OK

I've not tried the arrow key, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
