Audio Editor in Storyline places all my silence at the end of the video

I am using TTS in Storyline for a 2 minute video.  We do not have the AI upgrade.  I am using the audio editor and placing periods of silence in between the talking points.  Then when I go home >> preview, all of the silence insertions are combined at the end of the video instead of where i put them.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!!

  • Hi VJSoderquist!

It sounds like you've hit a snag while editing Text-to-Speech in Storyline!

Using a sample Storyline project, I added two silence breaks to a short TTS script. However, when previewing my Slide, the silence remained in place on the timeline. It's possible the behavior could be specific to your environment and I have some follow-up questions to help us troubleshoot:

It would also be helpful to see a copy of the .story file that's giving you trouble. Do you mind uploading that here in the discussion or privately through a support case?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

      Hello Steven,

Thank you very much for getting back to me.  The .story file that I've been working with is on my local drive (desktop).  And no, I have not tried to import the slide with the video into a new project.  I'm VERY new to this and the file I am working with is my first video, which is just a practice file.  Since I sent the note to you all, I decided to break up all the TTS into separate segments (14 segments for this video) and have been trying to space them out in the video to align with the activity on the demo video.  This is rather tedious and I would love for the first solution to work (inserting silence where I need it.)  Let me see if I can do the repair thing and see if that helps.  I would be happy to upload the file through a support case, but would that be helpful in light of the fact that I have already split up the text into 14 chunks?  I really appreciate all your help!

        Hi VJSoderquist!

You're welcome! Thanks for following up and providing the feedback.

No worries. We were all new to Storyline at one point. When sharing a .story file, it's most helpful to see a copy of the file in which the unexpected behavior is still occurring. I see that you've also opened a support case, and my teammate Robert has been helping you.

You're in excellent hands troubleshooting with him, and we can continue the conversation through your case!
