Bug: Animate by Paragraph options not showing up for Shape until after slide is previewed

I discovered an issue in a recent project. It was developed from a file that was created a couple of years ago. I have a Shape object with several paragraphs of text on the slide. Whenever I tried to change the animation option from "as one object"  to "by paragraph", Storyline would not allow my to change when the individual paragraphs were being displayed. There was no triangle icon to the left of the text in the timeline to "open" the individual paragraph elements. However AFTER I tried Previewing the slide, the the triangle icon and individual paragraph elements showed up as desired.

The issue only seemed to affect existing Shapes or new Shapes that had the Format painted onto them from an affected Shape.

    Happy to check this out for you!

    I tried replicating the behavior in a new project file but it appears that the issue might be isolated to older files since the option to expand on the shape worked as expected for me. Here's a recording of my test.

    Since the behavior is happening to your older project files, would you be willing to share a copy of them here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

    Thanks Jose, I have also noticed that pasting the affected elements into a new blank project carries over the issue so it might have something to do with the States. I am sending 2 files to the support link
