Closed Captioning for videos created in Storyline
Hello! I am creating a series of short platform demonstration videos using Storyline, as it provides me the ability to enhance sections, add text, animations and more! Where I am struggling is with the closed captions generated by SL for the video. The font is large and white, which does not display well with the platform design. I have tried changing the font and background colour in the Player, however, that does not change the closed captions in the VTT file for the video. Is there something I can do to work around this? Thank you in advance :)

Hi BrittnyPaize,
Thanks for reaching out!
The styling of captions (font, color, etc.) in a VTT file is typically controlled by the operating system or the video player displaying them. Styling changes made to the captions in Storyline's Player won’t affect how they appear when the video is viewed outside of Storyline.
You can try opening the video on your local computer in a media player that supports closed captions, and turn the captions on using the player’s controls. Some media players also allow you to adjust caption styling directly. You may also be able to adjust caption styling through your OS accessibility settings:
Windows 11:
- Start > Settings > Accessibility > Captions to change the colors, opacity, font, size, and effects
macOS 13:
- Apple menu > System Settings > Accessibility > Captions
Please give this a try and let me know if it helps! You can also connect with us privately in a support case if you prefer!
