Interactive Hydrogen Sulfide Safety Training in Storyline 360 (Variables & Triggers)

 

We are pleased to share our project — A Gamified Safety Training on Hydrogen Sulfide Gas, built in Articulate Storyline 360.

This Custom eLearning project transforms traditional compliance training into an immersive, decision-based learning experience that drives real-world safety awareness.

The Story Approach

Instead of presenting Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Safety through information-heavy slides, we designed the course around a narrative.

The learner takes on the role of a worker entering a high-risk site where Hydrogen Sulfide exposure may occur. From the very first scene, they are part of the story — not just observing it.

They must:

• Assess the environment
• Make real-time safety decisions
• Experience consequences based on their choices

Each decision changes the result and directly impacts the final outcome.

How We Built the Experience

Using Storyline’s 360 advanced logic features, we implemented:

•  Scenarios to drive narrative paths
•  Variables to track decision quality
•  Layer-based consequence feedback
•  Dynamic scoring tied to story outcomes
•  A “Super Hero Safety” badge unlocked through performance

Our goal was to make compliance training feel like a mission — not just another module.
