Issues with getting some of the drawing tools to work (Shape Fill & Shape Effect)

I am unable to click additional gradients to access the pre-done gradients on the menu.  (Shape fill > Gradients > More Gradients). I am also unable to access the shadow settings to change the color of the shadow (Shape effects > Shadow Options).  I click and nothing happens.

I have used these before so I'm not sure why I can't access them now. Closing and restarting Articulate doesn't help. 

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might fix this?  I have the latest version of Storyline installed.
