Layers Issue in Storyline

Hey there!

I'm currently building an interactive slide in Storyline with multiple layers. I've done this several times previously without an issue. But for some reason, once I click on an object to take me to a new layer, I can no longer click on any of the other interactive objects. I'm essentially stuck on the selected layer. I'm sure this is a simple fix, but in looking at interactive slides I've built previously, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've attached the slide in question.

Please send help ASAP!

  • You are missing triggers on your layers. You need to put in triggers on the layers, too, that state "When user clicks "Turnaroun" box, show "Turnaround" layer," etc.

You can copy and paste the triggers from the base layer onto your individual layers.

If this fixes your problem, please mark it as Solved. Otherwise, feel free to ask a follow-up question.

  • It looks like you duplicated your Base Layer to build the subsequent layers, which means you now have multiple objects to be triggered as KendalRasnake-1 commented.  Ideally you may want to consider removing all of those "folder tabs" that are covering up the ones on the base layer, so that the same triggers will just work. which sounds like what you have done in the past based on your description.

I just ran an errand. While I was out driving, I realized that this is EXACTLY what I did wrong. All the same, thank you for weighing in!

An easy mistake to make, the Duplicate and New icons are pretty close together. Also, we use duplication in layers all the time so that muscle memory can create that problem as well.
