Notes in Storyline
Hi guys đź‘‹
I really need your help.
My client want me to implement Notes in that way so there is Notes icon on each slide and when learner clicks that icon, Notes are opened in Notes layer. They would like to have a functionality so that user can type their notes in text entry field and click Save button to save it. But, the thing is that user can add notes whenever they want and each time they save their notes, text variable is adjusted and previous notes are overridden.
Client would like that when you open Notes, you have previous notes on appear and user can append new note to the current ones. How I can achieve it, please?
Thank you very much for your help

Hi maricmileva, Not sure if you are just starting out with SL so I have added a few different links. I use storyline variables, and add javascript depending on needs. There are many more examples ranging from simple to complex - I suggest searching for "notebook" "journal" to see the range. I have seen examples that were created to allow the user to email their notes as well.

Storyline variables and javascriptYou may find some examples here that offer tutorials and/or downloadable files so you can study the build.

Hi Ange,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I'm a total beginner and I really need some help. Can you please share how you solved this?
Most of the examples on the links you provided only contain Review links, without Storyline source file. For example, this is what I needhttps://360.articulate.com/review/content/1737e3ac-dc59-44e0-a3f6-cb82ba6caa81/review
but it doesn't contain source file.Hope you can help

Hi maricmileva
The 2nd link in my first message titled: "Step by step..." goes through the build step-by-step with visuals, and offers a SL source file at the end that you can download.I looked at your review link and the author provides a downloadable source file in the comments.
To know more about how variables work I highly recommend taking a look at this link Judy Nollett-The value of variables. it goes over types of variables, includes screenshots, explains usage and recommends many other extremely useful links with explanations, examples, and helpful source file downloads.

p.s. If you have questions when working on your build or run into problems you can also upload your source file here. Having access to a downloadable source file is the easiest way for members to troubleshoot a file and offer tips and support.
