Paste item and retain timeline position?
Is there a way to copy an item and paste it to another slide or project and retain the timeline position?
I have slides with many items specifically timed on the timeline, but when I copy/paste them to a new slide, all the items paste to the beginning of the timeline. It's very time-consuming to redo the timing positions every time.

Hi Jeni,
Good news! It is possible to copy and paste an object into a new slide and have it maintain its starting position on the timeline! I recorded a video here to show you how that can be done.
Copy and paste and maintain timeline position
I hope this helps you out!

Hi John
I figured that my motion paths aren't retained, is there a way to paste including my motion path that I originally had in my source slide?
Hello Akshaya,
I'm happy to chime in! I understand that your source object has motion path animations that are not carried over when pasted. If you're using "Paste Special," please check if the "Keep source animations" option is ticked.
You can also simply use "Paste" or press CTRL+V to paste everything, including the animations.
If the issue persists and repairing Storyline doesn't improve things, let me know, and I'd be more than happy to assist you further. You can also connect with us privately in a support case if you want more targeted help.

Will this also work if you copy a few items at a time - they will keep their spacing/timing?
Hi Beth,
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, you can paste multiple objects and keep their timeline position, as long as you use Paste Special and tick Keep source start time.
Let me know if you have other questions!

Hi Eric,
I do recall that in Storyline 3, by default the objects retain their timeline position when pasting.
Is there a way we can set this retaining timeline position behaviour as a default paste behaviour in Storyline360 without using Paste Special?Hello J T,
Happy to help! Unfortunately, there isn't a way to change the default behavior in Storyline 360. You'll need to use the Paste Special command to have access to the special options:
The good news is that keyboard shortcuts work, so you can just press Ctrl+Alt+V to do a 'Paste Special' without having to go through the right-click menu.
Hope this helps!
