Preview TTS before inserting to slide

I'm trying to preview my text-to-speech narration before inserting it to the slide. After adding my text, I click the "Preview" button, but all it does is give me a sample of the voice I've chosen. It doesn't read back the text that I have added so that I can make adjustments "on the fly". 

Is there a way to hear the TTS script before Inserting it on to the slide? 

I'm using the non-AI version at this point.
