Screen Reader challenge

Here is the scenario.  The scene is a simulation of a software.  The learner is tasked with selecting an object on the slide which then triggers the training to jump to the next slide.  On the new slide, the screen reader (I’m using NVDA to test) starts reading somewhere in the middle of the focus order instead of starting at the top.  I suspect this has to do with using the on-slide trigger rather than the player’s Next button.  Is there a work around for this?  I want learners to go to the top of the focus order every time, instead of landing somewhere in the middle.

  • Like, maybe I can trigger the "Back to top" button when the time line starts?  Any ideas on how to do that?

      Hello RachaelLundin-1,

      Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you're encountering unexpected behavior when testing your course's accessibility using NVDA. It would be easier for the community to see the behavior if we could get a copy of your course for testing. This will allow us to check the focus order of your course and check if the screen reader is following it. Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or privately by opening a support case? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
