Storyline - Graded Drag & Drop outdated

Hi all,

Is there a way to customise the graded drag & drop question interaction in storyline so the boxes aren't the default grey?

I've hunted through the UI and tried a bunch of different options such as outline, fill, shadow, glow, all sorts, just to see if anything can change its appearance and nothing does.

For instance, applying a fill will change the colour of the gaping at the joining ends of the grey boxes, but when previewing the slide, the colour is not present and it's the basic default. Same with all other options.

I can easily change the background colour/styling because that can be independent of the interaction itself, but that isn't what I'm after.

It seems that in all the years Articulate has been around, this graded drag and drop question slide has been left outdated and forgotten so it looks, frankly, awful and uninspiring to use.

I'm aware I could use a free-form, or even build my own using triggers - which I have done many times - but there use cases for this specific question slide, particularly as some of the options available for it are not available in the other two approaches.

If it is not possible to customise these dull, lacklustre grey boxes at all (outside of the text itself) then this needs to be a feature request.

Kind regards,

Sam

  • Hi SamBarnard-98a4,

Thanks for reaching out about the built-in drag-and-drop boxes in Storyline. The background color can't be customized at this time. I appreciate the effort you put into exploring this.

I've shared your request with our product team, and we'll keep you posted if any updates are made that address this.

Currently, it's only possible to change the appearance of graded Drag-and-Drop question interactions using JavaScript. It takes time to set it up and target all elements. Example:
