Storyline templates for team use.

Hi.
I'm working on building a template in storyline that can be used by multiple members in my team, but was wondering how it might be influenced by any local settings users apply when creating the content.

Would this mean that some of the template settings may not work as expected?
For example, I am assuming if you created a panel with a motion path, and the slide size is changed, then the motion path would need to be revised appropriately?

I have an additional question regarding copying layers between different Storyline projects (and sometimes even between slides in the same project). I tried copying a layer element from my template to another (new) project to test, but it didn't work. Can anyone give me some pointers of things to look for/check to see what has gone wrong?

Thank you.

Sharing a template across a team should not be an issue, but you identify a possible behavior that could call into question what your team believes a template should be used for. Perhaps I don't see why a team would try to change the slide size to which they have applied a team template; that would pretty much rule out "using the template," to me. And certainly, changing the slide size would impact anything that existed on that template, including any motion paths.

As for copying layers - I have often copied layers from slide to slide within the same project, and occasionally copied slides (including layers) from project to project successfully. However, because of how layers work with regards to being attached to a specific slide, I do not think you can copy layers separately and then attempt to apply them to a new project without creating both performance and layout issues.

Thank you so much, this is really helpful, and confirms some of my own thoughts and observations. I just didn't know if I was missing something.

I knew that there would be some great minds out there who would be able to help me. 🙂
