variable text shows before animation

I set up a text box to display a built-in variable (slide name).  The text uses a Fade In animation at the beginning of the slide. We have done this in the past with no issues.

I now see that when the slide starts, the text in the text box is immediately visible for a nano second, then disappears, and then fades in as expected.  It happens very fast, like a flicker.

I experimented with other animations - fly in, and so on - and the same thing happens. The text instantly appears, then disappears, then appears via the applied animation.

Should be easy enough to re-create.

    Additional info:

I reverted the text boxes to just plain text (not using the built-in Slide title variable), and yet I now see that ALL of my text boxes in my entire project show "Slide Title in Menu" variable when I roll over the fields. This is true for existing "plain" text boxes, new text boxes, copied and paste-as-plain-text text boxes... Every text field in my project now say "Slide Title in Menu" when I roll over the field.

I'm trying to figure out how to isolate to see if this is somehow causing the animation issue described above, but I cannot put a plain text field in my project. All means of adding text to a slide results in a text field that says "Slide Title in Menu".

See image above (I have moused over a plain text field with the text "Fred". When I roll over the field, I get the popup that says "Slide Title in Menu", even though I have not assigned that project variable to the field.

Hi Chris, I haven't got time to go into this in detail at the moment, but could it be an issue with the order of the triggers / animations?

Think very carefully, which action should happen in which order and check if the triggers for those actions are in the correct order...

Thank Felix. This doesn't involve triggers. I described above how to re-create the issue. I'd be interested in seeing if anyone else can re-create it. It is not a consistent issue - kinda sporadic.

  • I couldn't recreate this I can get the slide title in the menu

But only by using that variable, this maybe corrupted or I wonder if the original file is from an imported PPT
