Coming Soon: Scenario Source Citations + Edit with AI
Source Citations + Edit with AI is in active development as part of Labs. Functionality will evolve, and we may modify or remove certain features based on user feedback and stability. To access this feature, make sure it's turned on in Labs and AI is enabled.
When you generate a scenario, you may want to verify that its content reflects your sources. With Source Citations + Edit with AI in Rise 360, each scenario card shows the excerpts it's based on. Then, if a card isn't quite right, you can adjust its citations and regenerate the dialogue with AI. Keep reading to learn more.

Understand Source Citations + Edit with AI
The Source Citations feature adds a citation icon (a small document) to each scenario card. You can click it to view excerpts from the sources that the card is based on. Each citation includes the quoted text, a brief summary, and the source name and section so you can locate the passage in your original file. Citations appear only while you're editing. Learners never see them.
Edit with AI lets you remove citations that don't fit, replace an excerpt from your sources, and regenerate the card's text.
Note: Turning this feature off hides citations from your scenario cards. Your scenarios and any dialogue you've already regenerated remain unchanged.
View Citations on a Card
To view citations on a card, open the scenario editor and follow these steps:
- Select a scene, then find the citation icon in the lower-right corner of a character or decision card.
- Click the icon to open the Sources panel, which displays the quoted text, a brief summary, and the source name and section.
- Review each excerpt, then click X to close the panel.
Tip: Compare the excerpts with your original file to confirm that the scenario accurately reflects the facts in your sources.
Edit a Card with AI
If you find discrepancies between your sources and the scenario, you can adjust any card's citations and regenerate its dialogue. Follow these steps:
- Click Edit with AI (sparkle icon) in the card’s header. This opens the Edit with AI side panel on the right.
- On a decision card, select the choice you’d like to edit from the dropdown.
- Expand the Sources list to select which of your sources AI draws from.
- Expand Citations to review the excerpts the card is based on. Click Show more to read a longer excerpt in full.
- To edit a citation, click the pencil icon next to it.
- To remove a citation that doesn't fit, click X next to it.
- To add a different citation, click Add citation, then type a few words or paste a quote from your source. Select the excerpt you want from the results and click Add. Click Cancel to back out.
- (Optional) Enter directions in the box below your citations, such as changing the character’s tone. For example, “Make Finn more skeptical.”
- Click Generate edits.
- Review the Updated dialogue, then choose what’s next:
- Click Confirm to replace the card's dialogue.
- Click Cancel to keep the original.
- Click the regenerate icon (circular arrow) to try again.
Once you confirm, a Dialogue replaced message appears in the lower left with an Undo button in case you change your mind. Only the card you edited changes. The rest of your scenario stays the same.
Get Tips for Better Results
The following tips will help you achieve better, more consistent results with Source Citations + Edit with AI:
- Remove citations that don't fit before you regenerate. The new dialogue uses only the citations you keep.
- When adding a citation, search for a distinctive phrase. A short phrase finds the right excerpt faster than a long paste.
- Keep directions short and specific. For example, "Make this sound urgent."
Understanding the following known limitations can help you get more predictable results:
- Citations appear only on scenarios generated from sources. Scenarios generated without sources, or before you turned on this feature in Labs, don't show citations because AI adds them at the time of generation.
- Cards in the same scene may show similar citations. AI pulls one set of excerpts from your sources when generating the scenario, so a short source may produce the same few citations across cards.
- Source names may be missing. Document names don't appear for sources added after the scenario generation step.
- Search uses only the first 100 characters. If you paste more text than that into the search, only the first 100 characters will be used.
- Quote text in citations is limited to 600 characters. A citation displays up to 600 characters of the quoted text from your source.
