New to ITD — What Do You Wish You Knew?

I can share my experience that is continuously evolving decades later. 1.Having conversations with SME's and stakeholders can evolve and change even within a single project. Try to work on professional communication skills, effective communication skills and read/research as many tools as possible for SME interactions. There are some helpful resources within this community about working with SME's Working with Subject Matter Experts | E-Learning Heroes and I would recommend looking into the Peer Pod Articulate offers Group: Peer Pod: New to Instructional Design | E-Learning Heroes . 2.Don't take things personally was another skill that has proven useful in this field. Even if the build took you a lot of time or work and they may scrap the whole thing and go another way or you build something and it is shelved for a year. Don't take it personally, be prepared for changes, pivots and adjustments even if it wasn't communicated. It's a wonderful industry and truly informative with communities like this one.
