Articulate Course Duration Time incorrect

Mar 15, 2012

We published some modules and on reviewing the same found that the course time which is shown on the top next to the course title is not seen correctly. It is in the format (Elapsed time/Presentation time). Although, we can see the elapsed time for the slide correctly, the course elapsed time is not seen.

What could be the reason for this?

One reason that I could think of is that in our presentations, the navigation has been set to 'By User' and is Free i.e. Users can go to any slide at any given time.

How can we correct this?

Regards,

Aditya.

Hi Aditya!

Do want to send us your files so we can take a closer look? If so, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Articulate Support - Upload Your Files for Review

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!

Peter,

Another point that I forgot to add was that the earlier presentations were published to CD. While looking for possible reasons for this issue, I published the presentation to the Web environment.

On viewing the published output, we were able to see the course duration correctly with both the elapsed time and total presentation time.

Your thoughts on this? Does this time duration happen on publishing to different environments?

Aditya.

Hi Aditya,

Glad to hear the issue seems to have been resolved. As you suggest, it's likely due to testing the content offline. To truly test the functionality of your content we recommend testing the content in the environment it will be in when it is live. So if you are publishing for LMS, test the content in your LMS. If you are publishing for the Web, test the content on a web server via a valid HTTP address. If you are publishing for Articulate Online, test the content in Articulate Online to ensure that it works as expected. Let us know if you run into any other issues. Thanks!

Peter,

Unfortunately, I jumped the gun last-time around. The solution was not the change in environment because we tried to publish a presentation on another machine both to CD as well as to the Web and course duration correctly was seen for both the published files.

Don't know what the real problem is? Has it been observed by anyone else? Is this is a machine specific issue?

Lots of questions come to mind as this is happening on some machines only :-(

Aditya

Thanks, Nicole. I wouldn't describe it as an ongoing issue, we just never received the files from the other customer so we never had a chance to test them. It's a rare occurrence and usually machine- or presentation-specific, so if you get a chance, we'd be happy to take a closer look at your own files and work with you to get it resolved. Thanks!
