This was a big issue of mine...had many many files corrupted over the years when trying to put content from other files into another.
Aside from that issue there's also the problem of losing my video and audio links when merging files.
I'll have a presenter file with say 50 SWF videos, a few mp4 and lots of mp3s and merging these files into a new presenter file has been problem atic to say the least. I tried exporting my audio many times but that keeps blowing up saying I have a "lame" error when it crashes (not making that up).
Anyway, i'm always looking for best practices when considering how to deal with my 100+ presenter files and tens of thousands of supporting mp3, mp4 and swf files that go with it. So hopefully there will be more posts on this thread.
I'm not sure what the "lame" error message is referring to, so I'd definitely recommend ensuring you're working with local project files and then look at repairing Studio. Regarding your issue with losing video and audio links when merging files, that would be something you should share with our Support Engineers here so they can work with you to resolve this as quickly as possible.
I don't use Audacity so it must be something that Articulate build into it's programs. Maybe I'm mistaken, actually, I thought I'd saved the error. Perhaps it's not eh LAME erro but the encoder one shown below. I'm having issues with so many problem between presenter 13 presenter 360 (some things bomb out in one and other things bomb out in the other so I have to switch between two computer, one with 13 and one with 360. Anyway, the topic of this discussion is still accurate -- it's not easy to merge and reuse content from other presenter files.
Hi Jim, thanks for including the screen shot of that error message here. This is definitely something that I'd like our support engineers to take a look at, so I opened a support case on your behalf (#00965309 for my reference). I'll follow along with that case and add updates here in this thread as they are available.
Hi there Jim, just wanted to pop in and follow up on your case. It looks like Karla has requested your backup files (.PPTX and .PPTA). Here's an article for reference.
okay I uploaded to pptx and ppta files, got through teh submission and it didn't confirm it was received, just put me back to the landing page where I fill out a support ticket. Here's what I posted to them with the two files...
Here are the two files. Both should be Presenter 13 yet I'm getting an error message saying the ppta file was created with a newer version meaning 360. I did have presenter 360 installed by it "broke" my program because it no longer support custom shows in powerpoint so I had to go back to powerpoint -- rather, presenter -- 13. But I couldn't undo the upgrade I'd done as you don't provide for that, so I pulled a copy out of back (lithiumbatterywizard.pptx) and used that, and I repeatededly DELETED the ppta file but to no avail, it still rebuilt it on it's on and said it's from "newer" version so I was unable to publish or package it.
Hi Jim, thanks for letting me know your file submission did not go through. I passed that information on to Karla, as well as what you shared about not being able to publish your Presenter '13 file, and she will reach out to you shortly!

Hi there Samantha! Can you share a bit more about what you're looking to achieve? Are you essentially trying to rearrange your Presenter slides?

Hi Alyssa, Lame is an MP3 encoder used in Audacity, which I think is a pretty common tool used for audio recording and editing.
It can be found here an the Audacity website as a plug-in.:

Thanks for sharing that information here, Dave!
