Attachments don't save!
Sep 30, 2011
I've added several Attachments to my course but they don't stay attached when I preview. What's really odd is that two of them DO stay attached but the other half-dozen or so do not. (For those two, I attached them the other day and saved. Since then, I have actually deleted all of them and re-attached because I wanted them in a certain order. The others deleted but these two did not.)
I found this when searching the Forums: http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=1060 but I have followed these steps and nothing was disabled etc.
Help please!

Hi Amy,
Can you please try the following to resolve the issue?
1. Publish to the Web
2. When it's done, close PowerPoint
3. Reopen your presentation
4. Try to add Attachments again

OK, it actually worked. How??
Totally different issue: it won't hold the (custom) player template I keep choosing. It doesn't let me save (I can only Close and it doesn't offer to save) and when I do that and click on Player Templates again, it has reverted to E-Learning Course (Single Level).
Hi Amy,
When you click on the Player Templates button, we automatically default to the last player template that you used to publish. So, if you change a template & you haven't published with it, we'll still display the last player template you published with by default. Does that help?
It does, but how do I get it to hold onto the new one long enough to re-publish? I just went in, changed it to what it was supposed to be (didn't realized it had changed when i did the publish thing above to correct the attachment problem), and then re-published and it still didn't keep the template I want it to have.
Also, my UI keeps crashing and I get the attached error message. Don't know if the two are related or not.
And apparently I think Tech Support is at my beck and call today. Thanks a million for all your help
Hi Amy,
Let's troubleshoot the UI error first and we'll go from there. When are you receiving that error? Is it when you go to publish the presentation?
Now that I think about it, yes. I've seen it twice today. The most recent time I hit Publish and then realized I wanted to go delete the earlier published file to eliminate any confusion, I clicked on the Show Desktop icon in my tray which minimized PPT; after that, I couldn't get PPT to maximize and I had to go into Task Manager to End Task on the UI to get back to PPT.
On the plus side, my attachments have hung around through all of this!
Hi Amy,
It sounds like you may have 2 separate processes of the AP6.exe process running. Can you try restarting your computer to clear those out?
After that, publish your presentation to the Web and select your player template from the drop-down menu. Make sure that it doesn't say "in project." After it's done publishing, close the Publish Successful window & click on the Player Templates button. Does it show your player template in the drop down at the bottom?
Oh, hallelujah - it worked! Restarting is the one thing I didn't try, naturally. Will that fix my UI error too?
Hi Amy,
Yes, it should fix the UI error. Let me know if you run into any problems, though.
