Building training from Powerpoint Files

My client has a large collection of Powerpoint files that will serve as the basis for new training. I was planning to manually transfer content and imagery from the PPT files to new Storyline slides, mixing and matching from various PPT files, but I'm thinking now that perhaps there's a better way to approach this. I don't like that I won't ever be able to convert my Storyline files back to PPT if I wanted to.
Would using Studio/Presenter be a better option? With Studio, couldn't I just create and train using PPT and keep everything in the PPT format? Would I be able to export to SCORM and /or Tin Can?
Thanks for any input.

Hello,
If you'd like to keep an up-to-date PPT version, it sounds like Studio is going to be your best option. Since Presenter is a PPT add-in, you'll still be able to use the file as either a PPT presentation or publish it using Presenter in SCORM or Tin Can format for your LMS.
thanks, Allison. I'm not that familiar with Presenter - will it allow me to create training with layers and interactions, like Storyline, or is it limited to the standard things that Powerpoint can do?
Hi,
Unfortunately, some of the features of Storyline (such as layers and variables) are not available in Presenter. As far as interactions, you can use Engage to create a certain number of pre-defined interactions. I would encourage you to check out this comparison of Storyline and Studio to see which one is right for you.
