Moodle - SCORM freezes (Dump File included)
Feb 25, 2011
Hello,
For quite some time I have been experiencing a problem with the SCORM packages I use in Moodle. They freeze when it begins loading. If you wait, at times for a number of minutes, it will start. You have to use Task Manager to close the brower when it's stuck. When you re-load your browser and log back into Moodle, it will load that SCORM package fine.
We are using Moodle 1.9.10. The problem happens mostly with IE (I use version 8). I was testing Moodle 2.0 with our host Pteppic, and on a 3 slide presentation without any tabs, it acted up. They forwarded me a dump file with some errors in it. They are looking at their end, but I was hoping to get somebody in the Articulate community to give a hand.
I have attached a the dump. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
Many thanks!
-Dave

Hi,
it seems this tracker issue is for Moodle 2.x. How about 1.9.x - any upcoming solutions / updates?
Our client's LMS is Moodle 1.9.8+

the patches on that tracker issue are only for 2.0 as I haven't really finalised the exact way I'm going to solve it - the 1.9 patch "should" be a little bit easier once we figure out the final solution.
Problem is there are several other "features" that will need to be backported for the fix to be viable and features don't usually go into older stable branches. - give me a couple of weeks and I should have it all sorted. We may not patch this in Moodle 1.9 core but might provide a patch that people can install themselves if needed.
thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan,
it seems to be my same problem I posted some time ago.

I have same issues described above (Articulate scorm package locks in IE8 and IE9, but works fine in Firefox). I tried it in different version of moodle (1.9.3 - 1.9.5 and 1.9.12) as your first suggestion was to update version of moodle.
Does your patch will fix even the problem of locking in IE8 for moodle version 19.x?
Thanks really a lot for all your work and efforts in supporting us!
Silvia
Hi Silvia,
I haven't done any testing on this issue with IE 8 or 9 so it's possible that it may resolve the issue you were experiencing but it's important to note this issue only occurred when using the "new window" setting.
