Published course on network drive -- quizzes and video do not load

Jun 10, 2013

Hi there -- I know you are not supposed to publish a course on a network drive, but I am doing it for my colleagues to review before it uploads to an LMS (for some other reasons as well). I am able to access the course without problems, but when my colleagues do, they are not able to view the quizzes or videos. It would make sense to me if none of us could, but it doesn't make sense that I can and they can't. I don't even have Articulate loaded onto my personal computer, but I am able to open it on the network drive without problems.

Is this an issue with settings? Or something else?

Thanks!

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Monika!

It's difficult to say, really. It's not a good idea to try to run published files or even project files from external drives because the behavior is unpredictable. Different machines will have different settings and different user profiles will have different settings, as well.

If you view a published Studio '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Publishing and sharing Studio '09 content

If you cannot upload your content, you may want to try publishing for CD instead. Zip the content and share it with your colleagues. They'll need to extract the files and run the Launch_Presentation.exe file in the published output to view the course.

I hope this helps!
