re-linking .swf's

Mar 12, 2013

Hello,

We had a vendor create a bunch of courses in Presenter. After the project was finished, they sent us the source files. Now we need to make a change, but every .swf file shows up as missing in the .pptx. When I look at the properties of the .swf, they are pointing at the vendor developer's hard drive (C:\vendor user name\My Projects\the project\the.swf). Is there any way to re-link all the .swf's in a presentation? Is there any way to make the links relative vs absolute?

If I need to delete them and re-import the .swf's is there any way to tell what import options were used when the original developer imported them?

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes,

Did the vendor share the actual Presenter files with you, or just the PowerPoint files? It sounds like you may only be viewing the PowerPoint file, but I'm not entirely sure. If you have access to the Presenter file, it will be listed as an "Articulate Presenter Project" file type. This file should contain any of the .SWF files or other files inserted in the presentation, as a package.

If you're still in contact with the vendor, you may be able to request they send you a Presenter Package. For information on how to go about creating a package, please see the following article:

I replied to a similar problem here:

Basically, you can make a relative link by right clicking on the missing SWF block (it probably looks a white rectangle with an "X" in it) and adjusting the Movie property. Close and reopen the .pptx file and you should be good to go.

Best wishes,

Paul
