I was updating an older PPT in Presenter and when I published it and viewed it, the pictures were oversized, blurry, and the resolution was off. Why would this happen? The pictures had not changed. I was only changing verbage in the slides.
I was using Presenter sorry about that. But after reading what you posted. I forgot to check the image quality and what type of image I am using (jpeg, png etc.) So I saved my images as PNG and reposted them to the slides. After publishing them, I viewed the pictures and the pictures stayed the same.

Hi Britannia!
You mention that you are updating an older PPT, but you did not mention what version of Studio you are running.
We have an article about image quality in Presenter '09 here.
We also have some recommendations if you are utilizing Presenter '13 as well.

Thanks.
Thanks for the update Britannia
