SCORM content | SABA LMS issue

Mar 05, 2013

Hi All,

We have developed a SCORM 1.2 compliant course using Articuate 09. The course is deployed and  lauching from the SABA LMS. We do not know the LMS version.

Issue - When the learner clicks the Exit button of the course, the course window is getting closed but the LMS logs out the learner and takes him/her to the Log in screen.

Let us know how we can resolve this issue.

Hi Ulka,

Are you just not wanting to display the login screen to the users? This is something that would be handled by SABA. Having said that, however, are you launching the course in a new window? If so, you could try to remove that option and see if it bypasses the login screen on exit.

If that doesn't work, you may want to consider contacting SABA and see if they can provide any suggestions that will allow learners to exit a course without seeing the login page.

If this isn't what you're wanting to do, please share a little more information about what's happening.

Thanks!

Ulka Patil

Just to clarify, the log-in screen is displayed on exiting the Articulate course whereas the learner should remain logged in the LMS and should see his/her report/progress.

The SCORM 1.2 compliant Flash courses are functioning correctly in SABA LMS i.e. the LMS does not logs out the learner after exiting the course. On the contrary, when the learner exits the Articulate course the learner is logged out of the LMS. It seems there is some specific setting in Articulate which is causing the LMS log-out action on exiting (LMSFinish()) the content. Is this something related to mastery score?

Note that the client is using SABA LMS version 5.2.

Thanks

Hi Ulka,

if you'd like, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what's happening. Please create an Articulate Presenter package by following the steps in the following article:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package

Attach the .ZIP file to the second page of the following form:

Hi Christine,

Before you get too heavily involved in this support case I tested this fix successfully yesterday using Articulate Presenter 09, Saba 5.2 and SCORM 1.2 package.

The issue is on LMSFinish Articulate is closing Saba's content player, but in  addition logs the user out of the Saba Application.

Assuming you have already unzipped the SCORM package created in Presenter use the following to stop the application log out (this should work for all Saba 5.x versions)

Update Content Exit Behaviour

This applies to all Atriculate courses being deployed in Saba, where on exit of the course it causes the closure of the template player and the Saba Application to log out the User(requiring them to log back in).

1.
Click on the lms folder
2.
Right Click the Configuration File and select Properties from the context menu
3.
Click the Read Only check box so that it is ‘Blank’
4.
Click OK
5.
Open the Configuration File in Notepad
6.
Use CNTL+F to find the following varEXIT_BEHAVIOR = "SCORM_RECOMMENDED";
7.
Change this statement to read var EXIT_BEHAVIOR = "ALWAYS_CLOSE_TOP";
8.
Use File >> Save to resave the file
Rezip content and upload to Saba's repository as per normal procedure
