Bonus Questions

Dec 05, 2012

Hi, all.

I'm under a tight deadline for an "end of year" quiz our sales managers want to give our sales team.  Our quiz will contain about 40 questions that must be graded.  The managers also want to give them 10 bonus questions, so if they get them wrong, it won't affect their score; however, if they get them right it will add points to their final score.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can do this in Quizmaker?  Thanks so much!

Hello Tanya

In QUizmaker you can only set the pass/fail cutoff, there really isn't a way to manipulate the scoring subjectively based on "bonus" questions. But how about doing something like this:

YOu could figure out your pass/fail cutoff based on the value of the required questions PLUS the value of your bonus questions.

For example, say your 40 questions each have a value of 10 points, for a total of 400. And say You want learners to get at least 350 points in order to pass.

Let's also say you have 10 "bonus" questions, each worth 10 points. So your grand total points possible is 500.

Could you not just set your pass/fail cutoff based on 350 out of 500 points? That would be 70 percent.

Here is where you set the pas/fail cutoff: http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/setting-the-pass-fail-cutoff-for-a-quiz.aspx
