Can scores of multiple Quizzes be aggregated into a single score?

Feb 16, 2011

Actually I have two questions regarding Quizmaker.

Question 1

The scenario:

A single course with "chapters." Each chapter has a knowledge check (Quiz). At the end of the course is a comprehensive Quiz.

Example:

KC1 = 3 questions

KC2 = 3

KC3 = 3

KC4 = 3

Comp = 8

Total = 20

When publishing to LMS, the option to select when/how the completion status is chosen is based on what "slide" the learner accesses (at least to slide #, or all slides), or the completion of Quiz1, Quiz2, etc.

Is it possible to set the completion status for all slides and 'still' aggregate all the questions into a final score?

Question 2

Giving the ability to exit the Quiz at any time, will the Quizmaker still record a "score" for the questions that were attempted.

Example: Quiz with 10 questions. Learner accesses quiz and attempts 3 and decides to exit. When publishing to LMS, is it possible then to send a score of 3 out of 10 (30%) and still receive a completion status for the course itself?

Hey Kevin,

Not sure about Question 2, but I believe it would not call for that score until the quiz ends by finishing or if timed, when the time runs out.

As for Question 1, If I understand your question, when you publish and choose to track by a quiz.  You can only choose one quiz.  You can always set the Knowledge Checks up as "gate keepers" that will not let the learner continue with the course unless they passed the checks. So you know that they could not get to your final Quiz without passing the knowledge checks, but no cumulative score.

It sounds like you may have been asking something different, though.

If you were to build the entire module in Quizmaker, you could get a cumulative score.

How is Memphis?

Hey Ron!

I was able to get the answer to question 2 from another source. Quizmaker does not have the ability to "store" values of a quiz and submit them in a partially completed quiz. It's all or nothing. My guess is it "is" possible with some custom coding with variables and using arrays, but not today.

Yes, essentially that is what I'm trying to do regarding the other question. Only, I'm wanting to collect and store those Knowledge Check answers and combine them with a comprehensive quiz at the end. Think of aggregating any number of quiz questions throughout a presentation into one final score. So you've answered my question on that one.

Yes, I thought about using Quizmaker for the entire course to solve the cumulative scoring, but I also have a presenter video, queued slides to advance, and other complex branching going on. A straight-forward presentation would work in your suggested approach, but I'm afraid I'll have to save that for another project.

Memphis? Other than going form Minnesota-like winter for a couple weeks with sub-zero temps and more snow that this region has the ability to remove, to above seasonably high temps in the 70's in a matter of a few days....it's all good! My sinuses are singing the Memphis blues though!

Hi Hasnain!

Articulate Presenter lets you track a course either by the number of slides viewed or by a single quiz. Tracking both measurements for the same course isn't supported. Similarly, tracking multiple quizzes in the same course isn't supported. However, you may be able to track multiple measurements for a course using one of the unsupported methods in this article.
