I use Ditto to make copying and pasting test items from Word to Quizmaker (and to our LMS), and I wanted to share a method I've developed with it that can speed this up...
You're welcome! I did a fresh install of Ditto on a new computer and realized that I actually had set up the keyboard shortcuts myself (they weren't defaults), so that is something to keep in mind:
Of course, you can set these to whatever makes most sense to you.
Glad to help... another thing I noticed that I could have mentioned:
In Word, if you want to select an entire test question/response Triple Click the item. In Word, double-click selects a word, and triple-click selects the paragraph.
Hi I like this tool however when i move to the place in my form to paste the question using windows key+1 etc, ditto window disappears.I have to click the Ditto icon each time to bring it back when I move from Ditto to Form. Any ideas please?
This seems like a great timesaver and I'm anxious to use it. One problem that I'm having in testing it is that I get all of my items set up in Ditto, but then when I press Win+1 to paste the item in my app, it not only pastes it to the app, but also adds it's it to the item list in Ditto, throwing off my numbers. Each time I do Win+"a number" it adds the item to Ditto.
I'm sure it's a setting I selected or didn't select. But I compared my Options setting to yours and have basically the same settings. I also perused other settings and can't seem to find any that would cause this. Any thoughts.
Hi - I noticed this too but when I followed Will's advice to solve a different problem [Ditto window disappearing when I moved of it], it cured this as well. Give it a try. See Will's screen shot on settings - Quick Options > Always on top for how to do it. Hope it works.
I already did that, thanks. Another thing I just realized is that it's only in Quizmaker. When I tested pasting from one Word doc to another Word doc and also Word to a PPT, it worked fine.
Hi Lori - You are right - I just checked using Quizmaker as mine does the same as yours - pasted the item again into the Ditto list.- Anyone else got any ideas to cure this please?
Oops! Thanks for catching this. Here is a fix that works for me:
Right click on the Ditto icon in the taskbar
Choose Options
Click the Supported Types tab.
Click Rich Text Format
Click Delete
Click OK.
It seems like QuizMaker must be adding stuff to the clipboard internally for some purpose (which involves recopying what was just pasted), but by turning off the "Rich Text Format" as an option in Ditto, Ditto ignores whatever QuizMaker is adding to the clipboard. Let me know if this solves it for you as well.

That's cool, Will! Thanks for sharing that - it's always nice to learn about free tools that speed up workflow. Nice job on the video too!
Thanks Will. That will definitely save me some time this weekend!
Thanks Wiil!! Great!

I'm not sure this is the answer, but it might be going behind a window? If so, here is a way to always keep the Ditto window on top.
Whey hey. Sorted. Thanks very much. Going to practice using it now.

Hi I tried this fix and Quizmaker/Ditto pasting is all working fine now. Thank you for your quick reply and solution.
It worked for me too. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Another tool like this (but not free) is ClipMate: http://www.clipmate.com/
I'm going to try it out for a while and see if I like it as much as tried-and-true Ditto. Man, where is my loyalty?!
The PowerPaste feature it has may be worth the 34.95 price tag...
