Lisa, we had this problem yesterday, it may be your file path is too long, we moved the files to the desktop and relinked and republished.
The other thing we did which may appear strange is move the placeholder slide, publish and then move it back to its original place (We thought a flash file might be interfering)
I dont know which one fixed it, but we got it fixed (I expect it was the file path length)
