Can't hear recorded audio
Dec 09, 2014
Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone else is unable to hear the audio they record in Replay. I've tried using a headset with microphone and have also tried using just the microphone on my computer. Each time the Replay timeline shows that audio is recorded and each time I have chosen the specific microphone from the "Record Screen" settings but I can't hear it on my headset or my computer's speakers. Just to test my setup I went into Storyline and recorded from my headset and it played back beautifully.
Other things I've tried-
Obviously checking my volume and I'm able to hear other recordings in both my speakers and headset.
Checking my mute button. It's off, I promise.
Unplugging and plugging my headset back in.
Recording my webcam only which oddly enough shows the recording in the timeline ribbon but doesn't play audio or video in the preview screen.
Singing... :-)
Any other suggestions? I'm sure the answer is extremely obvious and I'll kick myself when I hear it.
Thanks,
Stephanie

I came here looking for a thread for exactly this! I can see the audio at the bottom of the A track, but if I play in Replay the audio doesn't play. I'm curious, if you publish the file can you hear the audio? Because I can. I publish and it plays no problem. But yes, for me, mute is off, headphones unplugged, disconnected the mic, other sounds work, etc. Just no audio playback in Replay.
Hi Greg and Stephanie,
It sounds odd -have either of you looked at conducting the repair of Replay?
HI Ashley! Should have mentioned that but yes, tried repairing, but it didn't help.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I'll try the repair and see if that helps.
Thanks to you both!
Always have to start there Greg. :-) Do you want to share your .replay file? I'd like to take a look and see if I can hear the audio and that'll help us narrow it down further.
I got it to play. What I had to do was quit Replay, unplug my USB mic and restart Replay and open a file. Now they all play without having to publish first. Stephanie I don't know what kind of mic you have but maybe try that and see if it helps.
Thanks Greg for sharing the update and I'm glad you were able to get it working.
WooWoo!
Worked for me too!
Thanks Greg and Ashley!
Glad to hear it Stephanie! Thanks for the update :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST!!!! I have been frustrated for weeks trying to figure out why I couldn't get my audio to work and the solution was that I had to have my USB mic unplugged after the recording was done and now I can hear the audio perfectly!!!!
SO UNPLUG YOUR USB MIC AFTER YOU ARE DONE RECORDING AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HEAR YOUR AUDIO PERFECTLY!
Glad this post helped you out Gail - and certainly why we keep these older discussions here in the forums!
