Screen Recordings Blurry in Replay

Dec 15, 2020

I am doing screen recordings as how to demos for my company. When I am recording screen in Replay everything look clean and crisp. However, when I edit the video (i.e. cut out dead time, etc.) everything is blurry - words, pictures, everything. I've attached the replay video for you. I've tried making the area on my screen that is being recorded smaller. It's better but still blurry. This is all before I even publish the video to an MP4 - it's coming with the replay file.

Hi Karen,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your file! It seems the blurriness results from the custom recording size being scaled down to fit the application on-screen. It also helps explain why a smaller recording size looks better.

Have you tried setting the software to full-screen when editing?

Once you publish and view the full screen, the video quality looks as expected. Take a look at this published version as an example. I hope this helps!

Hi Ren,

Thank you for the feedback! Could you explain further in how to set the software to full screen when editing? Typically when I am making these videos, I record my screen in Replay, make any edits (delete errors, etc.). I will publish the video and drop it into Storyline. I just need to make sure the clarity translate to the published version and into Storyline.

When I'm doing the recording it is full screen so I can capture all aspects of my desktop.

Thank you!

Karen Scott

Thanks for the clarification! When I'm actually screen recording in Replay everything looks fine. But when it populates in Replay so I can edit (i.e. cut errors, time, etc.) that's when it looks blurry. I can't even get to the point to get it in storyline. If I publish it, it will be blurry
