Additions to imported ppt slides not publishing

May 21, 2013

Hello,

I have recently imported ppt slides into SL and then added SL characters and buttons. When I preview the course, everything is as it should be but when I publish it and view it from my LMS, the additions I made to my title slide are not included in the final published product. The character and button that are not showing up are not on another layer, and all the other content I added to the presentation shows up. I've previewed and published twice now, both ties with this same result. Any advice?

Hi there Stephanie,

Sounds a little strange. Just to be clear, all other changes you've made, besides the character addition and buttons, are displaying correctly?

Do you have the character and the buttons over the content you imported from the PowerPoint slides?

Also, if you can, please share the .STORY file for the project. I'd be happy to take a look and see what's going on with the project.

Thanks, Stephanie!

Hello Christine,

Thanks for your help!

I actually can't share the presentation just for privacy reasons but more specifically the steps that I made were to import the slides and then I added a character and button on top of the first slide. The button leads the learner to a new scene I created. Everything works perfectly in the preview mode but when I publish to my LMS, the character and button are not on the first slide but the scene I created is on the menu in the player. I cannot view this scene in the published version by clicking on the scene in the menu. When I click on it, nothing appears but it is listed in the menu. So it appears as though the publishing is just excluding the character and button from the first slide.

Thanks again,

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for the additional info! Though, I must admit, it sounds even stranger than before :) I honestly cannot see why the character wouldn't be included - unless maybe the content was in an iFrame, or web object (in which case it would actually cover the character and/or button)

I totally understand if you need to keep the course private. If you'd like, you're welcome to send the file over to us in a support case. Anything shared with us will remain confidential.

You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks very much!

Christine
