Animated rotary switch

Hi there.
I am a bit of a newbie and have a quick question on how to animate a rotary switch.
I have created a rotary style selector PNG image file with an alpha, with a background for it to sit on with 3 selections.
What I wanted to do was allow the user to click one of selections and rotary switch will animate around to that position.
Does anyone have any idea on how to do this? I was thinking of rendering the movement as one movie file but how could you get it to stop in the right position for the selection if that makes sense?
Or is there a simpler way within Articulate?
This will have to be sent out as HTML5 so flash is not am option.
Many thanks

I believe states and triggers would help as in this tutorial

Here are two examples to 'animate' objects with custom states and triggers:

You could use the same techniques for your switch.
Hi Dazzer,
I just wanted to welcome you to Heroes and it looks like Philip and Michael have offered some great suggestions to get you started.
Thanks all - very helpful.
