Applying Custom Layout to Try Mode Screens

I am trying to figure out how to apply my slide layout on the try and test screens after they have been inserted into the scene. I am attaching the example to help explain my question.

After inserting the screens, I right clicked, selected layout, and then selected Title Only. I am given the title text box, but the color banner that goes beneath the Screen title does not pull through. (See slides 1 and 2).  I decreased the size of the screen recording, but that only created white space on the bottom of the screen. I almost appears the inserted screen file is centered vertically and horizontally

If I insert it as a single video, I am able to apply the layout. Any ideas?
