Articulate and Cornerstone; Not sure where the issue lies

Aug 17, 2021

I've developed an hour long course using Articulate Storyline 360. This course is given to approximately 2500 people in my organization and one particular slide is giving a huge problem - the training tends to freeze on this slide for a few people, interestingly not for all so I'm not sure if the issue is with Articulate or with Cornerstone - our LMS.

Here are the details: The slide in question is an FAQs one. It has four post its with a question. When you click on each post it, a lightbox slide appears giving you the answer. After you finish clicking all 4 post its and all 4 lightboxes have appeared and gone, there is a concluding voice-over on this very slide. After the VO is complete the training automatically moves to the next slide. But people are not hearing this concluding video which means that they are unable to progress further. The next button has been disabled and the menu is restricted so really, its a pretty frustrating experience for them as well as for me. I've run out of solutions for them. Can anyone please help me understand if the issue is indeed with Storyline or is it the LMS.

Hi, Priya,

It's hard to troubleshoot without seeing the file, but I'll give it a try.

Do you have triggers on the lightboxes that are used to determine completion for that item? If so, some users might be closing the lightboxes before those trigger execute.

Or it might just be that a few users are clicking everything so fast that they manage to break the slide. I suggest you test the slide by clicking as fast as possible to see if you encounter the problem. It'd be best to test in the LMS (staging or production environment), because that's more likely to include a bit of network lag, which could contribute to the problem.

Good luck!

Is there any way I can share the file?

To answer your questions - I tested the tested the training in the LMS' 'pilot' environment and it worked just fine. With all its bells and whistles functioning as they should, it was made live and I know about a 1000 people out of the 2500+ have already finished taking it - without any hassles. But those that get stuck seem to have a unique problem. When I proxy as them and take the training I get stuck too!! Otherwise I don't which makes me think it may not be a Storyline issue. It's probably something with the browser or the LMS...

Thank you Judy!

Hi Priya,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing.

Typically, when you are unsure if the issue lies within your project or the LMS, we recommend testing in another LMS environment, such as SCORM Cloud. If you're able to replicate the behavior, we'd be happy to take a look. You can share your .story file with our support team privately here.

It sounds like it is working as expected for the most part. Are the few people running into this issue using the same environment and browser?
